Egalitarianisms red consists of four works whose glass panels are coated on the reverse with warm colour gradients – each composed of two merging shades of red. In front of each panel, a single ultrathin, horizontally suspended carbon rod hovers, tinted in one of the two tones. A transparent, barely visible thread holds it in balance.
The glass surfaces reflect their surroundings, creating an interplay of colour, space, and reflection. The carbon rod rests along the horizon line between the colour fields, marking the point where both tones meet. Even the slightest movement of air sets it in motion, causing the boundary between the colours to shift and transform.
What appears to be a clear line becomes a field of moving colour – a state between stability and motion, separation and connection.
As in Egalitarianisms blue and black, the title Egalitarianisms refers to the principle of equality – in both social and physical terms. Each element exists in reciprocal dependence on the other; no part dominates. Equality emerges here as a dynamic relation, continually reshaping itself.
Egalitarianisms red reflects on balance, perception, and resonance – on transitions that oscillate, and on a state of equilibrium that forms in the very moment of movement.
