Egalitarianisms Blue

Air flow kinetic sculptures, 2023

carbon sticks, glass plate, airbrush, paint

each 40 x 80 x 2 cm

Egalitarianisms blue consists of three works whose glass panels are coated on the reverse with blue gradients – each composed of two adjoining tones. In front of each panel, a single, ultrafine in form and horizontally suspended carbon rod hovers, tinted in one of the two colours. A transparent, barely visible thread holds it in suspension.

The glass surfaces reflect their surroundings, creating a quiet interplay of colour, space, and reflection. The carbon rod rests precisely on the horizon line between the two colour fields, forming a darker visual boundary. Even the slightest movement of air sets it in motion, causing the relationship between the colour planes to shift and appear to move.

What seems to be a clear division is in constant flux – a moment between stability and fragility, between appearance and change.

The title Egalitarianisms refers to the principle of equality – in both social and physical terms. Like particles in a quantum field, indistinguishable yet mutually dependent, all elements here exist in reciprocal relation. Equality thus appears as a state of resonance – a subtle, continuous balance emerging from its surroundings.

Egalitarianisms blue reflects on perception, balance, and relation – on lines that divide and at the same time connect, and on a state of equilibrium that never stands still.
